Buzzards!

If you are wondering why I haven't updated the blog in awhile, I purchased a house that needs work. There have been many unpleasant and expensive surprises. Here is a picture of the house. Close up view:
Does that give you an idea of how it's been going? Ha ha!!!

Actually, the house is coming along. It's been a challenge to keep up with the workload and the house issues but now that it's summer, it is really slowing down and giving me a chance to catch up.

Here are a few pictures from a couple recent sessions:

Sarah graduated from high school this year and was rewarded with a trip to Florida and a senior photo session! Senior sessions include clothing changes and often two locations.

The McGraw family visited Naples from up north and took advantage of our beautiful beach for their family portrait. The sunsets in the summer are the most fantastic! These boys were incredibly well-behaved and a joy to photograph!

We like to finish the session with some fun pictures!!!

The summer is such a great time to schedule your family portrait. It's not too early to start thinking about your holiday card photos!

Costa Rica

It was tough to take off during my busy season, but I spent a week in Costa Rica on a photo safari! My friend and fellow photographer, Teri, has been living in Costa Rica for five years

This is the town of Jaco. The first high rise is going up. It's already a tourist town, but it is under major development. Several high rises are going up, up, up. I was lucky to see it now before the boom!
Costa Rica is famous for bad roads. It was pretty scary! Here is one bridge - all semi trucks, cars, tour buses, etc. on the way to Manuel Antonio Park must go over this bridge.

And here is where Teri and I almost died. The sign had blown down so we didn't see this drop until the last minute one evening. It's a very long drop down the mountain. It has been this way since November. It's amazing that no one has died yet. About half the time we passed by, the sign was down.
But we did live!! And got to see some of the beautiful sights on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica.

We hiked up and then down a mountain for hours to get to see this waterfall.
What a great experience! Thanks to Teri for hosting me and driving me everywhere!

Bat Mitzvah fun!

Morgan did a fabulous job at her Bat Mitzvah at Temple Shalom on Saturday. She has a beautiful singing voice. My favorite part of every Bat/Bar Mitzvah ceremony is when the young person thanks his or her parents for everything they've done. I guess you can tell I am a parent! After the ceremony, Morgan had a really fun and wild party at the Naples Beach Hotel.
I love my fisheye lens!
Corey Feldman with Rhythm City Productions provided the entertainment. It was fun fun fun!!

Black and White Studies

Our February focus will be Black and White photography. This in-studio session is planned with absolute simplicity in mind. Clothing is purposely kept dark to maximize the impact of the image. When these portraits are viewed in your home, the attention will go immediately to the faces of those you love and cherish. These timeless portraits are perfect for home decor. This studio session is only $75 in the month of February. We have an extremely limited number of sessions available. Please call to set your appointment!
Mary and Jordan are a beautiful example of the drama that Black and White portraits bring.

Baby, baby! Little Aubrey is four months old!
Those Texas women sure are beautiful! Dana and Michael were married on January 5.

My fabulous assistant, Sheri, took this infrared image.
I met Michael several years ago when I photographed his family at Seagate Beach. I feel so honored to have my clients coming back again and again!

So busy!!

I've sat in front of the computer most of this week, retouching, designing holiday cards and wedding albums.
I had a nice session on Sunday with the Cutler family. They drove all the way from Bradenton and spent the night so that I could photograph their family! I started with the Cutlers at their wedding 4 or 5 years ago. Needless to say, I am honored!! They are the first family in this collage. I have some gorgeous customers; don't I?

Time for an update!

I have to admit, I was honored when I received an email asking me to update my blog!

My excuse for not updating is that I appear to be jinxed with technical issues. First my DVD burner broke, then my fax machine, then my main computer completely crashed. It's been a slow and time consuming process to get to a working environment.

So the big question to all of you -- have you backed up your data? Thank goodness I had! I worked on that computer until 1:30 a.m. with no problems and the next morning at 9 a.m., it wouldn't even turn on. It was totally unexpected!

Fun, fun, fun!

Sorry for two posts right in a row. But I just had to share a few pictures from the two really fun photo sessions on Wednesday.

Model sessions are always fun. Anna is an absolutely gorgeous 'baby boomer' model. We had a great time!
Then it was on to a family portrait at the beach. I had a blast with the Jennings family. They are creative people who are willing to go all out for a great photograph!

My niece's wedding

Heather and Bob got married in the back of a fabulous old house in Powder Springs, Georgia. It was fun to visit with family.
Heather was such a beautiful bride.

Here are some of the handsome men in my family.

Now we have to come up with a new name for Bob. We've always called him "Bob the Boyfriend". Bob the husband....??
